Bats are protected in most states and cannot legally be trapped or killed, so exclusion is the only correct answer. We inspect the entire building envelope, install one-way bat valves at active exit points, seal every remaining gap larger than three-eighths of an inch, then remove and neutralize accumulated guano and urine staining. Work is scheduled around maternity season so flightless pups are never sealed inside.
